The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad is a multi-tiered chemistry competition. The 20 top-scoring students from the National Exam spend two weeks at a Study Camp in June to undergo rigorous training. Based on their performance, four students are chosen to represent the U.S. at the International Chemistry Olympiad.

The Local Chemistry Olympiad Competitions is the first step in the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad. ACS Shanghai Chapter coordinators oversee the administration of ACS Local Exam in China. Both the Local Competitions and the National Exam will be held in person, in Shanghai in 2024.

2024 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Schedule (Subject to Change)

• Jan 19, 2024: Registration close

• March 16, 2023: Local Exam in Shanghai

• All National Exam Nominees must be submitted by USNCO Coordinator by April 5. 2024

• April 13-21: National Exam（Date TBD)

• June 2-14: Study Camp

• July 21-31: International Chemistry Olympiad

How to register

• Eligible students must be U.S. Citizens with US passports or green cards.

• Go to ACS National as below for registration.
